The carbohydrates we eat (such as sugar, bread, pasta, rice,
potatoes wheat and flour etc.) are used by your body to maintain
vital levels of sugars stored in your muscles and liver. These
stored carbohydrates are the primary energy source that your body
uses for everyday activities. When you start dieting to lose
weight, your body generally continues to burn up mostly
carbohydrates for energy. Only when carbohydrate stores become low
do you start to burn a significant amount of fat, and burning fat
leads to the type of weight loss that we want.
Unfortunately, even if you are dieting, each time you eat a meal
containing a reasonable amount of carbohydrates, your carbohydrate
stores get topped up again and you stop burning a lot of fat and go
back to burning mostly carbohydrates - which slows down the whole
weight loss process. However, if you start to cut back on the
amount of carbohydrates you eat, your carbohydrate stores start to
run low, which forces your body to start burning more fat for
energy. When you start burning fat more regularly, you lose weight
faster - it really is as simple as that!
Celebrity Slim is not a 'no' or 'low' carbohydrate programme, it
does allow a regular intake of healthy fibrous carbohydrates - but
compared to a traditional Western diet, it contributes about a
quarter of the amount of carbohydrates.
